I've always found the biggest pain in the ass for doing the timing belt is simply having to deal with draining coolant, removing the radiator and the coolant pipes as they require RTV. The rest is pretty easy. Re-installing, putting in new coolant, that shit is the PITA part of the timing belt. So since you need to do all that just to run the car, you might as well put the covers on. It's winter here too, so my car is in the garage with the car cover on. :-) I won't be driving it for 5 more months. Maybe 4 months if I am lucky!
